Dear ver.di members, dear friends,
On Monday, 18 November 2024, the polling stations will open for the general staff council elections at Freie Universität!
You can find an overview of our candidates here.
You can find the polling locations here:
What we stand for!
ver.di/Offene Liste critically and constructively supports the actions of the GPR. At the FU, we stand with the employees in favour of trusting, responsible and respectful cooperation. We stand up against bullying, discrimination and racism.
We stand up for good work in an appreciative working environment free from abuse of power and with opportunities for development for all employees.
What have we achieved!
DV FLEX: More working time sovereignty for colleagues on flexitime
We have negotiated hard on flexitime and strengthened your position in organising your working hours and choosing your place of work. From January 2025, you will be able to achieve a better work-life balance.
Occupational health and safety
Our goal is to create safe and healthy working conditions for all colleagues. We have worked hard to achieve this through intensive work and many discussions with the department. We have actively campaigned for the elimination of deficiencies and hazards during inspections. We have promoted the greater involvement of safety officers.
Digitalisation
We have critically monitored numerous IT processes, e.g. the new ticketing system in IT support, and have campaigned for user-friendliness, consistent data protection and accessibility, but against performance and behaviour control. Our approach: Good hardware and software supports good work!
Capital city allowance for all university employees!
As trade union members, we have supported the campaign for the capital city allowance, as it is a further building block against staff turnover and a shortage of skilled labour. The backing of our union is important to us in order to have a strong voice for employees’ interests!
That’s what we plan to do!
Occupational safety
All colleagues at FU Berlin should be able to work well and safely. To this end, we in the GPR make committed use of our co-determination rights. We request the necessary documents in order to fulfil our statutory inspection mandate. We carry out inspections (audits) to record any deficiencies and monitor their subsequent rectification. We also attach great importance to revising the risk assessments for each workplace. We sensitise the responsible divisional managers to the duties assigned to them in the area of occupational health and safety. We also demand a comprehensive safety concept against threats and instructions for action in emergency situations. We regularly bring your issues to the Occupational Safety Committee and work together with many stakeholders to improve your working conditions.
Health protection
Your health is your most valuable asset. That’s why we actively participate in the design of our workplaces and their surroundings. For example, we identify factors of mental stress so that all colleagues can do their work well. To maintain your health, we also look for solutions to structural problems and work towards their elimination. Surveys, workshops and personal discussions form the basis for successful measures. In the coming years, for example, we want to expand our mental health support services, such as support points or training courses, and drive forward the reduction of stigmatisation.
Personnel development
We are actively committed to fair job prospects for all colleagues. There are many competent people working at FU Berlin whose potential must be encouraged. Prospects beyond fixed-term contracts must be created for academic staff. Permanent tasks should also be fulfilled with permanent positions. In the science-supporting area, we also need customised personnel development that opens up new prospects for people through further training and qualifications. This is intended to fill positions and keep people at the FU. Possible funding cuts by the Senate must not be implemented on your back! We will fight for this!
Digitalisation
Digitalisation is no longer ‘uncharted territory’ at Freie Universität. When introducing new hardware and software solutions, it is always important to involve all colleagues and make your work easier instead of just increasing efficiency. We are consistently committed to this when coordinating with the department. We also scrutinise the protection of employee data, the implementation of data protection laws, the ease of use of software and accessibility in IT processes. In the end, the solutions should support your work and simplify processes for several years.
Mobility
Business trips and commuting cause the majority of the FU’s greenhouse gas emissions. We want to support existing initiatives to reduce private transport and a sensible, purposeful business travel policy. Flexible mobility through company bicycles, bike leasing, car sharing, better public transport timetables and electromobility make sense for us. Charging stations for e-bikes and e-cars should be built and the purchase of company bicycles should be simplified through centralised purchasing.
Why elect a general staff council?
The General Staff Council is responsible for all co-determination matters that affect all employees or several departments of the FU. In the 2024-28 term of office, we want to represent your interests in a committed and competent manner in cooperation with ver.di and in dialogue with you. We want to continue the course we have been on since 2020/22 at full speed.
Please help to make this possible with your vote, go to the election of the General Personnel Council and vote for ver.di/Offene Liste.
